  1. Armed men kill policemen in Enugu and set police station ablaze. (9th October, 2022)(Politics/Insecurity): On the 9th of October, 2022, gunmen attacked the Inyi Police Division in Oji-River Local Government, Enugu State Nigeria. Two policemen were killed in the attack, the station was set on fire and weapons were stolen.

  2. Iker Casillas, Former Real Madrid Goalkeeper has disclosed that he is ‘gay’. (9th October, 2022) (Sports):The 41 year old sportsman was once married to Sara Carbonero and had two children with her. He made the announcement of his sexuality on Twitter, calling for respect, and receiving support from the public and other sportsmen. He subsequently deleted the tweet.

Ben Bernanke and 3 others awarded the Nobel Prize in economics (10th October, 2022)(Finance): The US Federal Reserve Chair - Ben Bernanke; Douglas Diamond and Philip Dybvig have been awarded the Nobel Prize in economics for their work on banks and financial crises. Their research explained why banks are pivotal, their central weaknesses and how their failure can incite financial meltdowns.

Popular Nigerian Lawmaker Dies In Saudi Arabia (10th October, 2022) (Politics): The member representing Bakori LGA in Katsina State House of Assembly, Dr. Ibrahim Aminu Kurami, has died in Saudi Arabia. The lawmaker had gone to Saudi to perform Umrah. According to a family source, he died after a brief illness in Madinah at around 2am Nigerian time. He left behind two wives, 11 children and three grandchildren.

Tenant Sells Landlord To Kidnappers For 1 Million Naira (11th October, 2022) (Insecurity): Officers of the Osun State Police Command have discovered the decomposing body of an aged landlord, Oladepo Asaolu, after about four days of disappearance. It was gathered that one of the tenants of Asaolu, allegedly sold him to some kidnappers for N1 million. His abductors have been arrested. Four of them are presently at the police net.

EFCC Arraigns ex-Lagos Attorney General (12th October, 2022)(Politics): The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission filed a charge against the former Attorney General of Lagos State and Commissioner of Justice for Money Laundering. This offense is alleged to have happened on the 18th of November, 2014.

  8. Big Brother Star, Rico Swavey, Dies at 29. (13th October, 2022)(Entertainment): After a ghastly motor accident on the 11th of October, 2022, Big Brother Season 3 Star - Patrick Fakoya aka Rico Swavey, passed away on the 13th of October, 2022 at 29 years old.

  9. Court frees Nnamdi Kanu of terrorism Charges (14th October, 2022) (Politics, Terrorism): The Court of Appeal in Abuja, unanimously discharged and acquitted IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, of all terrorism charges filed against him, as well as ordered his release from detention.

  10. University of Ibadan ranks best university in Nigeria (14th October, 2022) (Education): Times Higher Education (THE) has ranked the University of Ibadan as the first in its 2023 university rankings. The top 3 universities in the world are the University of Oxford, Harvard University, and the University of Cambridge.

Nigerian Professor, Toriola, named Washington University Physician-scientist Scholar (14th October, 2022) (Education): Professor Adetunji Toriola, alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo and a professor of surgery at the Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, has been named a William H. Danforth Washington University Physician Scholar.

Mason Greenwood, Manchester United Footballer, charged with attempted rape (15th October, 2022) (Sports, Crime): 21 year old Manchester United Footballer, Mason Greenwood, has been arrested and charged for attempted rape, assault occasioning bodily harm, and engaging in controlling and coercive behavior, following allegations revealed in videos and pictures online. Nike has also ended its sponsorship deal with Mason Greenwood.

  13. Harry Potter’s Robbie Coltrane dies at 72 (15th October, 2022) (Entertainment): Robbi Coltrane who played the role of Hagrid in the television series - Harry Potter dies at 72.
