  2. Anikulapo Movie ranks top 10 on Netflix (16th October, 2022) (Entertainment): Anikulapo, a movie produced by Kunle Afolayan, has been described a global success as it ranks tops 10 globally most watched movie, and the most-streamed non-English movie on video streaming platform - Netflix.

  3. A Nigerian emerges VP of Academic Affairs at Harvard. (17th October, 2022)(Education): Nigerian Scholar, Okediji Enitan has emerged as the Vice President of the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard.

  4. Labour Party’s senatorial candidate kidnapped (17th October, 2022)(Insecurity): Linus Okorie, Labour Party senatorial candidate for Ebonyi South, and former House of Representatives member for Ohaozara Constituency, Ebonyi State, has been kidnapped by gunmen while driving out of his residence at Abakaliki. It is reported that he was stripped naked and tortured with his pictures taken by the kidnappers.

Federal Government Reopens Dangote Cement Plant (17th October, 2022) (Business): The Dangote Cement Plant located in Kogi State has been reopened after being initially shut down by the Kogi State Government on questions bordering on the legality of Dangote’s acquisition of Obajana Cement Company in Kogi.

  6. Kanye West set to acquire Parler (17th October, 2022) (Media, Entertainment): Parler, an alternative social media company favored by conservatives is set to be acquired by Kanye West, Parler’s parent company announced on the 17th of October, 2022.

  7. US President, Joe Biden, launches student loan forgiveness app. (17th October, 2022)(Politics, Education): Joe Biden, President of the United States of America announced on the 17th of October 2022, that the app for American students seeking student loan forgiveness has been launched. The initiative, as Biden announced in August 2022, is to cancel up to 10,000 dollars in student loan debts for persons earning less than 125,000 dollars per annum.

  8. The United States of America fines Lafarge 778 million dollars for aiding terror groups (18th October, 2022)(Terrorism): The US has fined Lafarge $778m after the company pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply material support to Islamic State (ISIS) and other terrorist groups during the Syrian Civil War.

  9. World Leaders Commit 2.6 billion dollars to fight polio (18th October, 2022)(Health, Politics): The World Health Organization has announced that world leaders have agreed to fund the Global Polio Eradication Initiative 2022-2026 Initiative with 2.6 billion dollars.

  10. United Kingdom orders the sale of Meta-owned platform, Giphy. (18th October, 2022)(Business, Startup, Competition): After a failed appeal, Competition and Markets Authority competition has re-issued its order to Meta to sell Giphy on the grounds that Meta purchasing the company would limit the choice for UK social media users and reduce innovation in UK display advertising.

  11. Liz Truss resigns as UK prime minister (19th October, 2022)(Politics, UK): Prime Minister Liz Truss has resigned as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK) after 45 days in office, making her the shortest-serving prime minister of the United Kingdom ever. According to Liz Truss - ”I came into office at a time of great economic and international instability…Putin’s illegal war in Ukraine threatens the security of our whole continent…our country has been held back for too long by low economic growth…I was elected by the Conservative Party to change this….I realize though, given the situation that I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected”.

  12. AMCON sells Polaris Bank (21st October, 2022) (Business): Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have announced the sale of 100% of equity in Polaris Bank to Strategic Capital Investment Limited in an upfront payment of 50 billion Naira.
